8 Fantasy Days, Tuesday Round-up, Wednesday Matchup of the Day

Eight REALLY nice fantasy days...

Carlos Delgado (9-25-2003)
Line: 4-for-4, 4 HR, 6 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 28

Fun Fact: Carlos Delgado had a streak of 10-straight seasons of at least a 127 OPS+ snapped in 2007 when he put up a 103 OPS+.

Shawn Green (5-23-2002)
6-for-6, 4 HR, 2B, 7 RBI, 6 runs
Fantasy Points: 36

Fun Fact: ESPN cannot talk about him without mentioning that he is a Jew. It’s in his contract (not really).

Mike Cameron (5-2-2002)
4-for-5, 4 HR, HBP, 4 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 26

Fun Fact: Mike Cameron was on Guys Go Wild. Or he just rode a bull for a charity breast cancer event. I don’t know.

Mark Whiten (9-7-1993)
4-for-5, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 40

Fun Fact: I forgot Mark Whiten existed.

Bob Horner (7-6-1986)
4-for-5, 4 HR, 6 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 28

Fun Fact: Bob Horner was not employed as a farmer or truck driver at any point in his life. Shocking, I know.

Mike Schmidt (4-17-1976)
5-for-6, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 32

Fun Fact: George Brett was a better player than Mike Schmidt. No argument. Clear win for Brett. Ignore Schmidt’s 500 plus home runs and multiple gold glove – he played in the inferior National League (even though the National League was really good back then). Brett was better!!!

Willie Mays (4-30-1961)
4-for-5, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 4 runs
Fantasy Points: 32

Fun Fact: Willie Mays is more likeable than Barry Bonds. Mays is also more likeable than Adolf Hitler and George W. Bush (yes, I just put Willie Mays, George Bush and Adolf Hitler in the same sentence). Willie Mays is not more likeable than small bunny rabbits.

Rocky Colavito (6-10-1959)
4-for-4, 4 HR, BB, 6 RBI, 5 runs
Fantasy Points: 32

Fun Fact: Rocky Colavito had absolutely no role in the movie “Braveheart.” (You thought I was going to type “Rocky” there, didn’t you?)

Tuesday Round-up

J.J. Hardy – 2-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 runs, BB, SB
Russell Martin – 3-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 3 runs, BB, SB
Hanley Ramirez – 2-for-4, HR, 5 RBI, run
Matt Cain – W, 8 IP, 2H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 10 K
Aaron Cook – W, 9 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 4 K
Matt Garza – W, 7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 3 K

Wednesday Match-up of the Day

Halos vs Roid Needles

About Last Night…
The Halos saw every one of its active pitchers throw last night – and only netted 25.5 points. Fortunately, a 22 point night from Russell Martin and 13 point nights from Brian Roberts and David Wright pulled the Halos to within 11 points heading into Wednesday.

The Dramatic Setup Told Undramatically*
The Halos will throw out four pitchers on Wednesday – Ubaldo Jimenez, C.C. Sabathia, Daniel Cabrera and Daisuke Matsuzaka – while CRN will counter with nothing. The Halos have an opportunity to blow open a huge lead or sink into oblivion with a few bad starts.

A Fun, Yet Ultimately Meaningless Matchup to Watch
A.J. Pierzynski vs C.C. Sabathia

Pierzynski has the sad honor of being the CRN starting catcher and will be facing Sabathia tonight. Pierzynski is a career .150 hitter (3-for-20 in 20 PA) with a double, RBI and 5 strikeouts versus Sabathia. I give the advantage to Sabathia on this one.

*”Undramatically” is not a word. Don’t use it.
